Apple unveils HomeView, a home display built for Siri AI: on sale in the United States, no date for Spain

Apple opens a new category with HomeView, a 7-inch screen for the home run by Siri AI, arriving on November 13 in the United States and seven more countries for $299. The European Union is left out because the assistant does not yet work on iOS inside the EU, so Spain has no date. The new HomePod mini 2 and Apple TV 4K can be ordered in Spain, though Siri AI is only announced in English and for other countries.

Apple is moving into smart home displays with its new AI assistant.

On Tuesday the company unveiled HomeView, a 7-inch touchscreen that runs Siri AI, the new version of its assistant, which Apple describes as "profoundly more capable and conversational". The device, according to the press release, brings together music, FaceTime video calls, home monitoring and automations triggered by voice, and it recognizes each person's face to show their own messages, calendar or reminders. El País adds that it can be used to operate lights, security cameras, blinds and doors.

There are two models, one for a tabletop and one that hangs on the wall, and both cost $299 in the United States. It goes on sale on November 13 there and in seven other countries: the UK, Canada, Australia, India, New Zealand, Singapore and South Africa. Pre-orders are already open in six of the eight, and Siri AI is offered in English in all of them.

Europe will have to wait, and there is no date for Spain. Apple says it will not sell HomeView in the European Union because Siri AI has not yet reached iOS, the iPhone operating system, in the EU, and adds that it "is working constructively with the EU in an attempt to find a path forward". El País attributes the assistant's absence from European iPhones and iPads to the Digital Markets Act and notes that the display has to be paired with one of those devices with Siri AI switched on.

Apple has also unveiled HomePod mini 2, its small speaker, at 169 euros, and a new Apple TV 4K, its streaming box for the television, at 349 euros. Both can already be pre-ordered in Spain: the speaker reaches stores on October 30 and the box on November 13. For these two, Apple only announces Siri AI in English and in the same eight countries (speaker, box), and Spain is not among them; on the speaker it will arrive in a later software update, and on the box it launches as a beta.

Why it matters · analysis and opinion

The screen matters less than the map. Apple is launching an entire consumer product while leaving the whole EU market out from day one, and it gives a single reason: its assistant is not on European iPhones. This is not a feature that slips; it is a complete device that does not arrive, because it depends on that assistant and on the phone it pairs with. The other two launches confirm it from the opposite side: the speaker and the streaming box are sold in Spain, but without the new assistant, which Apple only announces in English and for other countries. Anyone buying either of them here should check what each device actually does in this country and in this language, because the box is the same and what it does is not.
