Cursor, Grok, Grok Bot and X Premium can now be bought together through The X Subscription, the new offer from xAI. There is one tier at no cost and four paid ones: $8, $30 and $100 monthly, or $200 at the top, and consumption of Grok models is split between Grok and Cursor. For new customers it is open already, and anyone on an earlier plan may keep it or switch and get back the proportional part of what they paid.
xAI has introduced The X Subscription, a subscription that puts Grok, Grok Bot, Cursor and X Premium into a single plan. The announcement is dated Monday, October 12, and it also went out on X, where the SpaceX Super Intelligence account summed it up in a post: the plans of Grok, Cursor and X Premium are now unified.
Grok covers chat, voice and the generation of images and video. Grok Bot offers AI teammates that carry out tasks. Cursor supplies the coding agents, both local and in the cloud. And the X part adds the checkmark, tools for creators and fewer ads; on the highest tiers, ads disappear from the timeline altogether.
There are five tiers. The free one gives daily access to Grok, a starting quota for Cursor's coding agents and the standard version of X. The paid ones cost $8 a month (Plus), $30 (Premium), $100 (Super) and $200 (Ultra). The $30 plan bundles what SuperGrok, Cursor Pro and X Premium+ offered, which together used to cost $90 a month. Compared with Plus, Premium multiplies the included usage by 4; Super, by 15, and Ultra, by 50.
On paid plans, usage of Grok models comes out of a common pool, whether it is spent in the Grok apps, in the Grok tab on X or in Cursor. According to xAI, every plan includes at least double the coding usage with its models that the comparable Cursor plan gives. Models from other companies remain available in Cursor from the Premium plan up, but their usage is charged separately, at the API list price and through top-ups.
The subscription can already be taken out by new customers and, according to the company, will reach everyone worldwide over the coming days. For those already paying for SuperGrok, Cursor or X Premium, nothing changes: they can keep their plan, price and features, or switch and receive a prorated refund for the old plan. The switch option is being turned on in stages and shows up in the account's billing settings once it is available; switching comes with limited-time offers.
For teams, the Premium, Super and Ultra plans cost the same per user as the individual ones. xAI states that the per-user price is below that of the old Cursor Teams and that it comes with three times the coding usage, along with SOC 2 compliance, single sign-on (SSO), usage analytics, admin controls and consolidated billing. Large companies will be able to manage Grok and Cursor from the same dashboard, with one usage pool for both products.
Why it matters · analysis and opinion
The move turns three bills into one and ties together products that until now were paid for separately: a general-purpose assistant, a programming tool and a social network. For anyone already paying for two of them, the saving is plain and the decision simple. The small print lies in consumption: the shared pool only covers Grok models, while those from other companies are paid for separately inside Cursor. A development team that works mostly with outside models should work out its real spend before switching, because the fee does not tell the whole story. Those who stay on their current plan lose nothing, so there is no rush. It remains to be seen whether rivals answer with similar bundles or keep selling each product on its own.
