Zillow launches a connector to search for homes, check prices and request tours from Claude

Claude can now draw on Zillow's catalog to find homes to buy or rent, see estimated values and figure out how much someone can pay. From the chat, people can also ask for a visit, reach an agent or check financing options. Zillow states it sends no data to Anthropic, but it does not say what happens to what users type.

Zillow, the most visited real estate portal in the United States, launched a connector for Claude, Anthropic's AI assistant, on Monday, October 19. A connector is an integration that users switch on from inside the assistant itself: in Claude, that is done under "Customize", in the "Connectors" section.

Once it is set up, Claude can look up houses to buy or rent, show estimated property values and work out what price range each person can manage. Zillow gives specific requests as examples, such as a three-bedroom house with a garage in Denver priced below $600,000, or an apartment to rent in Seattle for less than $2,500 a month. Listings show up with photos, prices and other details, alongside interactive maps and links to keep browsing each property on Zillow.

Without leaving the conversation, users can ask to visit a home, get in touch with a real estate agent or look into financing. According to Josh Weisberg, Zillow's senior vice president of AI, the connector is meant to move users on to a concrete next step with the company, whether a visit, an agent or a loan officer.

On data, Zillow says it does not send information to Anthropic: what appears inside Claude is its own listing display, approved by the multiple listing services (MLS) and credited to the broker and the MLS just as it is on Zillow.com. The announcement does not explain how what users type in the conversation is handled.

This is not the first time Zillow has brought its listings to an AI assistant: it already had an experience in ChatGPT and another one focused on rentals in Gemini. The company explains that the connector relies on two decades of housing data and on the same technology base as Zillow AI mode, the AI mode in its own app.

The announcement does not mention a price, whether the connector requires a paid Claude plan, or whether it is available outside the United States.

Why it matters · analysis and opinion

The connector changes the point of entry: someone who used to open a portal's app can start the search in a general-purpose assistant and end up asking for a visit without leaving it. For Zillow it is a way of not being left out of those conversations while keeping control over how its listings are shown and who receives the contact. For agencies, the signal is that clients may arrive already filtered from a chat. To judge it properly, it still needs to be known which part of the conversation stays on each side, because the announcement only covers what Zillow does not send, and whether the service will leave the United States. Outside the country, for now, it is a hint of where the big portals are heading.
