OpenAI drops the planned cut and, instead, doubles the limits on ChatGPT Pro in its three price tiers ($100, $200 and $500), as well as on Business Premium. The reduction for Pro 200, which would have applied after October 29 without touching the price, is cancelled following customer feedback. The always-on AI assistants called Dots keep extended limits for now, with their usage counted separately, and OpenAI gives no exact figures.
OpenAI has backed down: instead of cutting ChatGPT Pro usage limits, it is doubling them.
According to BleepingComputer, Tibo, the public voice of ChatGPT and Codex on X, announced on that network on October 29 that every usage limit on the $100, $200 and $500 Pro plans and on Business Premium, which SoftZone describes as one of OpenAI's plans for businesses, is being doubled, effective immediately. The measure mainly bears on ChatGPT Work and on Codex, which share the allowance included in those subscriptions. OpenAI had planned to cut the usage included in Pro 200 for current subscribers after October 29, without changing the $200-a-month price, but reversed course after hearing from its customers.
In addition, the extended limits for Dots, its always-on AI assistants, stay in place for now, and their use will keep being counted separately from the subscription's default usage.
OpenAI has not given exact figures for each limit. According to Diario Bitcoin, the company warns that doubling the allowance does not necessarily mean completing twice as many tasks, since spending varies with the model chosen, the kind of work and the settings; according to the same outlet, the Plus plan stays as it was.
Why it matters · analysis and opinion
A cut that was planned and withdrawn before it took effect shows that usage limits now weigh as much as price: anyone working daily with assistants and programming notices a cap more than a monthly fee. It also shows that customer reaction counts, although, with no exact figures, nobody can measure how much headroom has really been gained. Doubling an allowance is not the same as doing twice the tasks, because spending depends on the model and on what is asked, and the Dots limits are only kept for now. A small business that depends on these tools should note how often it hits the limit before and after the change, and not treat as fixed conditions the company may touch again.

What does it mean for your business? · analysis and opinion
This change mainly matters to freelancers and small teams in Spain and Latin America who already pay for one of the ChatGPT Pro plans ($100, $200, or $500) or Business Premium, one of the plans for businesses. The announcement only names those plans, and according to Diario Bitcoin the Plus plan stays as it is: anyone using the free version or another plan is not covered by it, so it is best not to count on extra usage in those cases.
For those already subscribed, the benefit comes without paying more or changing anything. Our advice is to check day to day whether, with the new limits, the current plan covers the work for the month, and to put off any upgrade to a more expensive plan until that is clear. Since OpenAI has not published exact figures for each limit, it is wise to note when the cap is reached and with which tasks, in order to decide using our own data.
The risk lies in how stable these conditions are: OpenAI had planned a cut to Pro 200 and withdrew it after listening to its customers, and the extended limits for Dots, its always-on AI assistants, remain in place only for now. We think it is not advisable to rely on critical business processes within a usage margin that could change again, and that it is worth having an alternative ready in case the limits are lowered.
