Perplexity has shown how its Computer agent can take charge of growing an online store by linking Shopify, Meta and Klaviyo. Computer picks which products to push based on what sells, builds the page, makes static ads or variants of winning videos, and writes and schedules the email. Each business sets the budget and which steps need approval before going out.
On Tuesday, November 3, Perplexity explained on its blog how online stores can use Computer, its AI agent able to plan and finish tasks with several steps, to handle the work that makes the business grow. The agent links to three services: Shopify, where it pulls store data and puts together landing pages; Meta, for advertising; and Klaviyo, for marketing email.
Everything begins with a brief from the owner covering the goal, the offer and the limits of the campaign, along with any brand material they choose to supply. Perplexity offers a sample request: a 15% discount on a summer collection, a two-week Meta campaign with a $1,000 cap and a Klaviyo email to current customers, with every piece shown before launch.
From there, Computer studies product sales in Shopify, suggests which products or collections to highlight and creates a Shopify landing page that follows the brand's design guidelines; the last touches are made in the Shopify editor. For Meta, it crosses that page with a study of competitors and how earlier ads performed: it produces static ads, turns videos that have already worked into fresh versions, sets up the campaign and links every ad to its page. In Klaviyo, it relies on the customer data at hand to create or choose an audience, drafts the email in the brand's design and, once the required review is done, schedules or sends it.
Each business marks which steps require its sign-off, for example publishing pages, sending emails or spending on ads. Brands can also save "skills" holding their design guidelines and tone, so the agent respects them across pages, ads and emails. According to Perplexity, Computer combines the latest AI models that fit each part of the job, such as analyzing sales, creating images and video or preparing reports.
The company recommends beginning with a narrow task, for instance a campaign ready for review built from Shopify sales, and connecting afterward the accounts that task needs; it offers assistance to anyone who wants help configuring ongoing workflows. The announcement gives no price, plans or countries.
Why it matters · analysis and opinion
Until now, a small brand launching a collection split the work across tools and, often, across people: the data in the store, the ads on another platform and the email on a third. Perplexity's proposal is for a single agent to walk that whole chain and keep the same offer from end to end. The appeal for a short-handed team is obvious, and so is the risk: an agent that publishes pages and spends on advertising makes mistakes with real money. That is why the most useful part of the announcement is that each business decides which steps it reviews. What it costs, and what results it delivers when measured on real campaigns, is still unknown. Anyone with a Shopify store can try it on one small campaign with everything under approval before trusting it with the budget.
