ColorOS 17, the new OPPO system for its phones, will launch on the Find X10 and then spread to more models. The AI novelty is an Agent Mode inside AI Mind Pilot that handles multi-step requests using what is stored on the handset, from preparing a trip to building an album. At first it will connect with Manus and with ChatGPT, and part of the usage will be free.

OPPO is bringing AI agents into the phone's operating system.

The brand has unveiled ColorOS 17, the new version of its mobile operating system. It will arrive first on the Find X10 series and then reach other models in stages, from October 2026 to the first quarter of 2027, according to the schedule the company has given.

Among the AI additions is AI Mind Pilot, a system that finds, sorts and manages what is stored on the phone from instructions given in natural language. It can identify documents, rename them by content and date, and tidy up files spread over several folders.

The headline feature is Agent Mode, built for multi-step requests that start from the user's documents, photos and other files: gathering bookings and tickets to prepare a trip itinerary, putting together photo albums or generating a web page from the information available.

According to OPPO, the system relies on models that run on the phone itself to understand and arrange the information. For local jobs such as searching for, sorting or renaming photos and files, the original material stays on the device, and when a request needs outside processing AI Mind Pilot first asks the user for explicit confirmation, the company says in the announcement of its partnership with Manus.

Agent Mode draws on the capabilities of Manus, an AI agent platform with which OPPO has announced a collaboration. Zonamovilidad adds that at the start it will connect with ChatGPT and with Manus, that the service will have limited free use, and that users will be able to link accounts they already hold or pay for extra capacity.

OPPO says it will give more detail at the Find X10 launch on when the Manus features will be available, in which markets and with what benefits for users.

ColorOS 17 also brings a new design, Living Flow, changes to how resources are managed, and a Transparency Report listing the AI services used, when they were called on and for which operations.

Why it matters · analysis and opinion

The usual routine with an AI agent is to gather the documents by hand and upload them. Building it into the system changes the starting point: the assistant already has the tickets, the photos and the files in front of it, which is where the time went. For a professional who works from the phone, the promise is skipping the tedious collecting of scattered information. The trade-off is trust. An agent with access to everything on the handset makes it essential to know what stays on the device and what goes to an outside service; the prior confirmation the brand announces has yet to be seen working. The decisive details are also missing: which countries will get it, how much use is free and what the rest will cost. Without that, it is a clear direction rather than a tool to assess today.
