CrowdStrike to Acquire Fiddler AI to Keep Watch Over AI Agents

IA en un minuto newsroom · Editor: Jon Elgezabal

In 30 seconds

CrowdStrike has reached an agreement to buy Fiddler AI, which evaluates AI agents before they go live and explains their decisions. Its technology will be sold inside Falcon under the name Falcon Observe, and closing is anticipated around the last quarter of fiscal year 2027. The price has not been disclosed, though it is said to be mainly cash plus some stock.

On November 3, during Fal.Con Europe in Barcelona, CrowdStrike announced a definitive deal to buy Fiddler AI. The company works on observability and explainability for AI agents: testing them before they go into service and accounting for why they behave the way they do.

Fiddler's technology is to be folded into the Falcon platform as Falcon Observe. CrowdStrike's announcement puts general availability in the fourth quarter of its fiscal 2027 and expects the transaction to close within that same window, subject to the usual conditions. No price was given; the company says only that payment will be largely in cash, plus stock that carries vesting conditions.

The functions it highlights include pre-production testing of agents, tracking their decisions and tool calls, spotting behavioral drift and hallucinations, and keeping a trail of events for audits. It supports agents instrumented with OpenTelemetry, LangGraph, Amazon Bedrock, AWS Strands and Google ADK. CrowdStrike also credits Fiddler's own purpose-built models with trimming evaluation spend by as much as 98%, with no need to call outside LLMs.

CrowdStrike pairs the deal with Falcon Guardian, its product against attacks on and misuse of agents: Guardian protects them, and Fiddler checks that they acted as intended. On the same day it unveiled an AI Kill Switch for Guardian, which shuts down unauthorized agents as they run, first at the AI gateway and later on the endpoint, and blocks them from starting again anywhere in the organization, according to its AI security announcement.

Chief executive George Kurtz calls Fiddler the flight recorder of every agent, there to show precisely what an agent did and the reasons. When a regulator or the board asks, he argues, "the model did it" does not count as an answer.

Why it matters · analysis and opinion

The purchase reflects that agent security splits into two halves: stopping one from doing something improper, and being able to show afterward what it did. CrowdStrike now offers both inside a single platform, which lets a customer who already uses it add the second without looking for another vendor. The announcement is aimed at large enterprises, but the underlying question reaches anyone: if an agent acts on your behalf, can you reconstruct what it did and why? Falcon Observe is not yet generally available and the price is not public, so how it performs in production remains to be seen. Meanwhile, the sensible thing is to demand that activity record from any agent you hire.
