Oracle sets up an AI consulting practice powered by OpenAI technology

Oracle has launched a consulting unit to help companies move from AI trials to everyday use, backed by OpenAI's models. The services staff will be prepared jointly by both companies and will handle agents for Fusion, development with Codex, data and security. Oracle University plans, with OpenAI, to certify one million professionals on this technology.

Oracle has announced an AI consulting practice that will run on OpenAI technology. According to its announcement, published on October 27, the Oracle AI Services Practice will bring OpenAI's models together with Oracle's applications, data and cloud infrastructure, and it will be run by Oracle Customer Success Services (CSS), the company's services arm. Oracle and OpenAI will train the CSS teams jointly, with OpenAI contributing its knowledge of the technology, while Oracle's own teams will lead the projects with customers.

The service is meant to accompany a company through the whole adoption cycle: from deciding where AI will have the most effect, to testing and validating solutions, connecting them to the company's data and processes, setting governance controls, training staff and keeping the use going afterwards. Oracle presents the launch as coming at a moment when, it says, organizations are moving from experimenting to producing.

The practice is planned to center on four areas. The first is AI agents in Oracle's Fusion applications, using built-in OpenAI models or a customer's own model on supported OpenAI connections. The second is application development on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) with Codex, OpenAI's coding tool, and its APIs. The third is enterprise data, with Oracle Autonomous AI Lakehouse, Oracle AI Database and Oracle AI Data Platform. The fourth is security: Oracle AI Security Mesh, a managed service that uses OpenAI cybersecurity models to find and fix vulnerabilities on OCI, in other clouds and in a company's own environments.

Oracle also wants one million developers and professionals (consultants, customers and partners) to go through training and certification on OpenAI technology via Oracle University, in collaboration with OpenAI, with courses by role and hands-on Codex practice. The news comes during Oracle AI World, where, according to El Español, the company presented 25 agentic Fusion Cloud applications and a 1 billion dollar investment over four years in its partner network. The announcement does not give availability dates or prices for the practice.

Why it matters · analysis and opinion

When an enterprise software maker builds its own AI consultancy, it is admitting that selling models is not enough: what holds many companies back is bringing them into their processes, their data and their security controls. Oracle tries to solve it with staff trained alongside the model provider and with its own applications as the way in, a detail worth comparing if a company already uses Fusion or Oracle's cloud and hesitates between this service and an independent integrator. Before signing, it is necessary to ask which part is an Oracle service and which depends on OpenAI, how responsibility is split if something fails and what it costs, because the announcement gives no prices or timelines. Until real cases exist, it is a promise of method more than a measured result.
