OpenAI brings GPT-6 to all ChatGPT users, including those on the free plan

ChatGPT now runs on GPT-6 for anyone paying for Plus, Pro, Business or Enterprise, and from October 8 on Free and Go as well, in every country. Paid plans use GPT-6 Sol; Free and Go use GPT-6 Luna. Its headline change, Intelligent UI, lets an answer arrive with maps, charts, forms or small tools that can be used without leaving the chat.
OpenAI has started bringing GPT-6 to ChatGPT worldwide. The rollout began on October 7 on the paid Plus, Pro, Business and Enterprise plans and, starting October 8, it also reaches Free, the free plan, and Go. On Enterprise, availability depends on what each company's administrator allows.
On paid plans it runs on GPT-6 Sol, and on Free and Go, on GPT-6 Luna. According to OpenAI, both are tuned for everyday conversation. The change only applies to the chat in ChatGPT: the models behind Work and Codex are not changing with this release.
The main new feature is Intelligent UI: answers can include visuals, buttons, forms, charts and interactive experiences that people use right inside the conversation. The model picks the format based on the question and, when a plain text answer is the most useful, it replies with text.
OpenAI gives a few examples: the timing for a roast next to the recipe, the stops on a road trip on a map, or tools built on the spot, such as a calculator to see how savings could grow, a bill splitter for a dinner with friends or a game inside the chat. The company acknowledges there is still work ahead to improve the model's design judgment and expand what it can create.
ChatGPT can also start answering while it is still thinking. According to OpenAI, for questions that need a web search, GPT-6 Instant starts answering 44% sooner, on average, than GPT-5.6 Instant. The company adds that, compared with GPT-5.6 Sol, GPT-6 better resists attempts to bypass its safety training and is better at recognizing the limits of what it can do.
Last month, OpenAI introduced the first GPT-6 models for paid customers. With this update, the company says, GPT-6 reaches the more than 1.2 billion people who use ChatGPT every week.

Until now, OpenAI's newest work was reserved for those who paid; with this step, the version most people use is also the most recent one, even if the free plan runs on Luna rather than Sol. The deeper change is in the shape of the answers: a plan, a comparison or a calculation can arrive as a small app rather than a block of text. For a shop or an office, that opens the door to putting together a calculator or an interactive table on the spot without writing any code. Reliability remains to be seen: OpenAI itself admits the model's design judgment still has room to improve, so the sensible course is to check the numbers in any tool it builds before showing it to a client.
